Elvis Puggy at the Vet's Office
Elvis and all his friends at Pacific Vet Clinic
Dr. Todd and Nina measured Elvis for his new wheelchair from Eddie's Wheels.
Elvis will be getting a counterbalance wheelchair. We are very grateful to our many wonderful, generous and kind friends who helped us pay for this wheelchair.
He is currently unable to stand on his own - his back legs no longer function. He does have some feeling in one of his back legs - I am trying to massage his legs so that they don't atrophy. I have noticed that one of his legs is always cold. The vets say that Elvis may or may not walk again - in the meantime he is pretty depressed and there is no sense in waiting around for him to walk. Spring is here, summer is coming and he will soon have the most awesome pimped out wheels in town!

Elvis Flirting With Marcy

Elvis and Marcy

Elvis and Shannon - Shannon is a vet tech and Elvis LOVES her.

Elvis and Nina - When Elvis first got sick in early March Nina drove us to the emergency vet clinic and stayed with us the entire time. Nina has been at Pacific Vet for as long as I can remember (and we have been going there since 1997) and Elvis absolutely adores her. He lights up when he sees her. You can see in his face just how much he adores Nina!

We did a UA and labs again today and found out that Elvis has a high white cell count again, he is slightly anemic, and his albumin is low. Again, Elvis' labs do not make much sense - the low albumin would indicate kidney problems, but his kidney and liver values look fine. He was unable to urinate yesterday so Dr. Todd catheterized him - his urine was fine, too. He did not drink much, which is probably why he did not urinate. He got a shot of antibiotic and when we got home he had terrible diarrhea. I have a feeling that I am giving him too many supplements. I am going to cut back - since his liver values are fine, I am going to give him the Denosyl every other day or so, and I am going to give him one Joint Max per day instead of 2. He is back on antibiotics, and hopefully he will feel like eating tomorrow. He has been sleeping quite a bit the past couple days, but he seems fine when he is awake.
We were unable to make it to Elvis' acupuncture appointment today and we were very disappointed. We will definitely make it next Friday.
We have a follow up appointment with Dr. Nagell on May 3rd - two months from the day Elvis first got sick from eating the tainted food.
